Self Care from the Outside In

How much water do you drink? Do you have a skin care routine? What products do you use? How is your stress level?

These are some questions I might ask you at the beginning of an aesthetics appointment. I’m not looking for “right” answers; just the answers. This is to help identify any problems so I can help you find solutions.

One of my favourite parts of working in holistic aesthetics is connecting with my clients. When someone walks into my room, it’s an opportunity for me to tune into what that person needs so I can help them be the best version of themselves in that moment. And sometimes what a person needs is to be reminded that we are all human!

Something I’ve heard friends and clients say more than once is that they are hesitant to come in for a treatment because they are worried that they will be judged for the state of their skin, nails, hair, whatever it be – but I’m here to remind you that we all have to start somewhere. I started somewhere, and through practice, have developed beauty and self care routines that work for me and my schedule.

I’d be lying if I said I never forgot to moisturize or do my skin care routine. I am a human too, and no, I do not have perfect skin. What I have today, and continue to strive for, is HEALTHY skin – And I get to see and help clients achieve HEALTHY, happy, glowing, gorgeous, and radiant skin!!! I also believe, the simple act of nurturing your body, does more than just that…it is an act of compassion that affects our innermost-selves and therefore raises our vibration and self esteem.

We are all human and doing our best. This has been a tough year, and that can manifest in all different kinds of reactions in our bodies; stress can literally start to express itself in the way that our skin maintains its health. Even if we are practicing regular self care, it doesn’t mean that we don’t deserve or need support. One of the most rewarding things in my day is seeing the amazing benefits on one’s overall happiness that self care can provide.

It’s my belief as someone who has dedicated their time to helping clients honour their body through self care – that we all deserve to take a little better care of ourselves in one way or another.
