The Golden Path to Skin Health: Facial
Rejuvenation Acupuncture
Origin
It’s not a new trend! In China during the Sung Dynasty (960-1279 AD), Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture was performed in the Royal Palace on the Empress, Emperor and Concubines. It is an ancient practice that revitalizes the qi (energy) and blood flow in the body and face, rejuvenating the skin and promoting longevity.
How does it work?
Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture is a holistic treatment for skin health, our main goal is to treat any imbalances of the mind, body or soul that are the root cause behind the patient’s skin concerns. For example, if a patient has a build up of internal toxins that are the root cause for acne flare ups, we will customize acupuncture points to enhance detoxification and to strengthen the organs responsible for detoxifying. Wrinkles in certain areas of the face may tell the story of the individual’s emotional hardships or habits, in this case we may calm and soothe the mind or nourish the organ associated with a particular emotion (L iver – Anger, Heart – Joy, Spleen – Worry, Lung – Grief, Kidney – Fear ). Each treatment is individualized and unique to the patient.
Following the treatment the patient will experience improvement in overall health, digestion, and energy. These key factors are essential for nourishing the body and skin cells, activating collagen and elastin production within the body. A harmonic balance of the mind, body and soul will reveal h ealthy radiant skin !

How many Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture treatments will I need?
In general, patients will notice wonderful results within 4-6 treatments, while there are those who notice results within 1-2 treatments. We recommend 10-12 treatments once or twice a week for optimal results. However each patient’s treatment protocol and results will vary due to personal factors such as diet, lifestyle, skin care regimen and mental health.
After the prescribed number of treatments, maintenance treatments (once a month) will prolong the results for up to 5 to 10 years. I love to educate my patients about incorporating Facial Rolling, Gua Sha, Facial Massage, Acupressure, Herbal Formulas and Natural Supplements to enhance the benefits of Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture.
How do Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture treatments feel?
Facial acupuncture needles are half the thickness of a strand of hair. After these fine needles are inserted, one will feel a “zing” (gentle tingling sensation) or warmth in the area. Most of my patients fall asleep after the first few needles and will slowly wake up during their facial massage (facial rolling, gua sha or facial cupping) or after the treatment. After the treatment, some will feel very calm and mellow, while others feel energized. There will be an immediate feeling of feathery lightness in the soft facial muscles and skin.
